Sora jumps out and lunges at Squall, half tackle-hugging him.]

[ OH GOD HOLY SHIT WHAT THE--!!

Actually Squall was starting to get used to Sora's flying tackles and managed to catch him in time. ]

Yeah... same?

[Sora only lets go enough to look up at Squall.]

I need to talk to you about that task board job you took. The goddess one?

[ At the mention of it, he seemed a little prickly. ]

Yeah, what about it?

[oathkeeper]

[And... That's why he's hugging Squall.]

You gotta drop that one, it's not worth it! I really mean it! It's too dangerous.

[ Squall stared at Sora, giving him a long intense stare. ]

Are you in on this too?

Huh? What do you mean?

[Sora shakes his head.]

N-no! I just think it's a bad idea. Goddesses and stuff here can be bad news! How about a monster hunt with me instead?

[innermonologues]

Sora, you're not good at lying. If you brought it up it means you obviously know something. It's fine if you don't trust me, but don't play it off like I'm stupid.

[oathkeeper]

[Wow, straight to the heart.

Sora lets go of Squall but gives him a small pout.]

Fine, okay- I know something. But it's not because I don't trust you, because I do. It's just because I don't want to see you getting hurt.

[He rubs the back of his head. Trying to find a way around this without revealing Usagi's true identity...]

That goddess is really important to me...

[ He falls silent again, as if going over his thoughts in his head. ]

Fine. I'll drop it. I figured it was pointless anyway when I didn't know what to look for. Not when I don't even really understand the concept of a goddess anyway. Well I didn't. Anyway...

[ There was a pause. ]

If she is your friend. The Goddess, I mean. You might want to tell her... no it's nothing.

[ he shook his head and let out an annoyed huff. ]

[Him agreeing to drop it makes Sora so relieved that he just up and hugs Squall again.]

Really? That's great! I'm so glad! I dunno who that creepy guy was offering a reward for her but-

[Wait- He tilts his head up.]

It's somewhat my business, but also somewhat not my business.

[ He's not really sure if he should say it. The strange goddess or whatever is his friend afterall. ]

[oathkeeper]

I just said I trust you, you can trust me too, Leon.

[He blinks, curious.]

Is there something you want me to tell her?

You should probably tell her if she doesn't want to be recognized, she might want to tell her friends or, body guards or whatever the are, death threats probably aren't the best way of keeping their goddess unknown.

[oathkeeper]

[Sora deflates, shoulders sagging. He's talking about Rei isn't he ........................... ]

I... I know. They're just super protective of her because they love her a lot. When you love someone that much, you'd do anything to protect them, you know?

[innermonologues]

If I were going to protect someone and keep them hidden, if they were brought up I'd play stupid, as if I never heard of that person before.

[ Squall reached out to ruffle his hand through Sora's hair a little. ]

I was ready to give up days ago. I figured it was a hoax, pointless, someone's imagination. Whoever contacted me, they are the one that made it obvious your goddess friend was real.

[oathkeeper]

You can't blame them for getting emotional, Leon. They've been through a lot. So they got a little shot gun about it. But I'll tell her, okay?

[When Squall is done his ruffling, Sora tries to fix his mess of hair.]

As for her, yeah... She is real. But she doesn't deserve anyone going after her for money or whatever else. I don't want you to get hurt, I really don't. I just know that her guardians are never gonna trust you now and that really sucks. But I know that's not your fault, you didn't know.

[The senshi are his family. He loves them all like sisters. Now he'll never be able to bring Squall over...]

That's just fine, because I won't be able to trust them either. They sound like people who gained the power of magic and instead of fighting, they let the magic control them.

[ He scoffs softly and glances off. ]

What if it had been someone else? What if a child had taken on that task. What if someone far more innocent had done so. Would they have gone for them too? Protecting someone is one thing, Using your power to scare and threaten others is another.

[ There was a small pause. ]

I know I'm not blameless. I could have gone about asking a different way. I only wanted to jostle a few people in hopes that something would come of it. I was in the wrong there, but I don't feel I am here.

[oathkeeper]

[Ugh. This is the worst. He feels stuck in between friends and it's really upsetting him. He clenches his teeth.]

It doesn't control them. Squall, you don't know them like I do. They just protect their own. They're the most loving people I know.

[He can't answer Squall's questions about if it had been someone else taking the task because he doesn't know.]

All I know is that they were just trying to scare you off their tracks. It's not your fault but it's not theirs either.

[Sora huffs loudly.]

If it's anyone's fault this all happened, it's mine. I took her up there and someone saw her.

[ Squall gives him another stare. He could tell the whole thing was upsetting him, and squall arguing wouldn't make anything better. Demanding that Sora saw that "he was right" or whatever would be childish. Everyone is allowed their opinions and forcing someone in between is just. Cruel. He sighed softly. He almost wants to say something like "Just go to them. They're your friends your family. It's fine" but something told him that would just upset Sora further.]

I don't take death threats lightly, ...but I've already crossed my name off the task board. So your friend is safe. And just so you know, it's not like I was going to hurt her. So she was safe regardless.

[oathkeeper]

[Squall is right to think that would upset Sora if Squall pushed him away. In his eyes both parties are innocent. This was all one big misunderstanding that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

He can't blame Rei and Minako for being who they are. Loving and protecting Usagi came from generations of evil trying to hurt Usagi. To be overprotective is a thing.

And for Squall to not enjoy death threats is only natural as well. Squall had no idea this would happen to him.

Sora's shoulder stop being so tense. He smiles a little up at Squall.]

I know. I'm really sorry, Squall.

[innermonologues]

Don't apologize. You didn't do anything wrong, Sora.

[ He sighed and worked his fingers through his own hair, pushing it back. You know, typical cool guy fashion. ]

I'm not cut out for this...

[Super cool. It makes Sora grin brightly.]

Cut out for what, big speeches about protection and power and friendship?

It's... nothing.

[ It felt like Sora wa trying to lighten the air, and with all the trouble he's had to deal with so recently... he really shouldn't be piling anything on. ]
