Garland...? I can't really seem to recall that name.
[ Squall tilted his head a little, his attention fully on Warrior now. Was this person from his home that he remembered? Or perhaps somewhere else...?]
[ Ah, so it's looking to be story time, is it? Well, good thing they're on a bed then.
The Warrior smiles a little and gives a slow nod, fingers coming to lace together only to pull apart again. ]
Ah, I would think not prior to my return.
[ The Warrior hums and leans back a little, wrapping laced fingers around a knee which he props up a bit on the bed, blue eyes turning up to the ceiling. ]
I first knew of him from the conflict that I woke up within. A knight for Chaos, the leader for his champions much as I served as the leader for those aligned with Cosmos.
It seems that after the conflict, when everyone returned to their respective worlds- their homes, I had none to return to and found myself placed within the world we had all been transported to after having defeated Chaos... the world in which I said my goodbyes to my comrades.
[ Figuratively, that is, as the Warrior had been so confused with where they had all ended up. ]
But as it seems that for every hero for Cosmos their was an opposite against them with Chaos and my opposite, it seems, is Garland. So I found him to have been cast into the same world as I was... the dark and the light for Cornelia, the place I now call home.
[ Nodding, the Warrior smiles as he recalls the castle, the bright blue waters and the deep greens of the forest surrounding it before... his smile falls to a more sad one instead. ]
Garland, it seems, knows of me even prior to the conflict which we first met within and has made it somewhat of his... game, if you will, to involve himself in my life, claiming that he and I are destined to fight for all of time, no matter the world in which we find ourselves in.
[ With a glance to the door, the Warrior smiles as he spots the kitty with a round little belly tiredly making their way in, leaning down to scoop them up and gently place them on the bed between him and Squall. ]
There have been times where he has claimed that I have never been loved and that I myself have never loved... that no one could ever understand who I truly am... whatever that means. That he and I are bound together in a way which I will never share with another... light and dark.
[ Fingers gently stroke against the kitten's head, watching as they settle down between them. ]
But I find that, even if that may be true for myself, that so long as I have a purpose, so long as there are those who need my help... I'm fine with such a life. Because if I can protect those who cannot protect themselves, allow them a chance to feel these warm things that I may never come to fully understand, then that is all I need... and I feel that way even here in this world.
[ Squall sees the little kitten getting all settled and gently sets his chocobo chick down beside the kitten. The chick watches the kitten get settled and slowly tries to mimic it's movements before nestling in. ]
It sounds to me like this Garland guy... is a bit of a rival. A rival that wants your undivided attention. Ah.... I know a little bit about that.
[ He reaches up to tap at his scar. ]
But... does being light or dark really prevent others from understanding you fully?
[ The Warrior comes to smile a little at Squall's words, noting how the little chick seems to have made themselves comfortable beside the small kitten between them. ]
From my understanding, it seems that he knows who I am, even back within the conflict... but refuses to indulge me in that knowledge. I imagine it's due to his meaning to keep us connected, his claiming to be the only one who could ever truly understand me.
[ With fingers still laced together and holding at his knee, strands silver-white brush against his shoulder as he turns his head to look to Squall. ]
I'm sure he would consider whatever life I have created for myself here within this world to be nothing more than a farce.
[ Coming to pause for a moment, he glances back across the room. ]
But I know that I will not stay here forever. It seems that it is my duty to go wherever it is that I am called as I have been called to two conflicts already and another within a place I call home. This world here has called me for a purpose as well and when it is over... I imagine I will once again leave to wherever has called me next.
[ And that, he believes, is his purpose: to go where the light needs him to be. ]
I... don't know if it's all this hope and love crap Sora's infected me with, but... when you put it that way it sounds... kind of lonely. Kind of like... your own little barrier to distance yourself from others while still protecting them.
[ The Warrior can't help but smile at hearing such words from Squall, a gentle glance down to the sleeping kitten and baby chick who have become friends in a way that perhaps is much like he and Squall have. ]
There are always those who must sacrifice their own happiness if it means to protect the happiness of others.
[ Words soft but... not as sad as they might seem to some. ]
Some things simply don't always work out... or are meant to be I'm afraid.
[ Squall is... making the kitten speak? Yes, it surely looks like that, to which the Warrior tilts his head a little before he reaches out to scritch under their chin. ]
Ah, this entire time I did not know you were able to speak. I see you only do so around Squall, hm?

And yet the 18 year old asshole has someone who cares for him and he cares for in return.
[ His touch is soft and yet reassuring at the same time. ]
To see you happy, Squall, it is more than I could ever ask for with being here and I am glad that I get to see it.

You will be going to the festival then?

No. You don't want to disappoint me. It will shatter my whole outlook on life.

Because he promised to go to the festival.

[ A pause and then the Warrior glances down. ]
Is there a dress code for this?

[ He must have missed this as he doesn't seem to recall such a thing. ]
I suppose I will do my best to find something... a little better.
[ Since, well, the Warrior is just dressed in a simple black shirt and pants... yep. ]

You could always ask Sora to dress you up. He's usually pretty good about that... when it doesn't count suits.
