[It's been 5 days since he and Sora reconciled following their Task together. Arden was looking for an opportunity to just catch Squall in the house, but kept missing him, so he finally decides to go with the crystal.]
Hey. Still interested in those playing cards you got me?
[ This is not what Riku had wanted to deal with. Like... at all and here he is, tracking down Squall after receiving this "letter" attached to his door here in the house that is far too crowded for Riku's tastes and from the looks of it, Squall had been meaning to "fix that" in his own stupid way.
A stupid way that would surely upset Sora.
So, here he is, tracking down this stubborn guy who he really doesn't want to have to deal with but, for Sora's sake, he is, because... it's complicated. Yeah, let's just go with that.
With Riku being one so good at avoiding and hiding from others, it's of no surprise really that he manages to catch Squall finally... up on the roof, no less. Sadly, it's something he would probably do himself and that just grinds his gears even more. So, with pulling himself up onto it, letter clenched tightly in a hand, he approaches the other with eyes narrowed behind his blindfold. ]
[ Much like the cat he is, he had his eyes shut, relaxing on the roof. It's one of the easiest places to find him if you knew him, but easier to hide from people who didn't.
He heard the sound of someone coming to the roof as well and turned his head toward the visitor. Oh. It was Riku.
He rolled his eyes and slowly moved to sit up after having the letter thrown in his direction. ]
Paper. Made from trees. Often used for writing or more childish uses like paper airplanes.
[ With the cats being fed and the sun having set, things are winding down within the household.
The Warrior stands there at the sink with his sleeves rolled up, washing the remaining dishes and leaving them aside to dry. Thankfully, there hadn't been much in the way of cooking being done and while he's by no means a chef by any way of the word, he's found himself to be better at preparing things and so! Soup it had been... but with meat in it. Perhaps more like a stew then? Maybe.
However, with that all out of the way and adding another log to the fire for the sleeping cats on the furry rug laid out in front of it, the Warrior finds himself lost in his thoughts for a long moment before he decides to go and check on another cat who should be winding down and sleeping for the night...
...and so he knocks gently on Squall's door within the house before he carefully opens the door and peeks his head in. ]
The cats are sleeping... is there anything you need before I head upstairs?
[ Warrior will notice Squall staring up at the ceiling with a baby chocobo sitting on his chest, trying to sprawl its chubby body out like a kitten. His head tilts to the door and he spots Warrior. ]
[On one of the nights Squall is actually home and not spending it as his second residence Sora will sneak into his room and start crawling under the covers all the while trying to not wake Squall up. If he's even sleeping in the first place!
He'll carefully tug the blankets back and slip in and shift close to Squall's warmth.]
[ Squall was actually sleeping for once, and while he wasn't a heavy sleeper in the slightest, he didn't budge awake quite yet. Though, the shift in the bed beside him made him roll over and pull the bed intruder closer. ]
[ Sometime during the middle of the night, there's a gentle nudge that can be felt through the connection of the amulets and, it's a moment after that the Warrior's voice comes through... somewhat softly. ]
[Without so much as a preamble, Auron contacts Squall privately. He's usually not this abrupt, but maybe Squall can understand why when he says the following sentence.]
[ With the Sosyne's f-bomb dropped it's already more or less clear what is going on. What isn't clear, however, is how the people aligned with Sosyne holding up. ]
Remember to drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.
[ What kind of advice is that...this isn't a heatwave. ]
[ In the morning of the 25th, Squall will find a small box wrapped in decorative paper on his doorstep—there's a cat cap and some chocolate inside. At the very bottom of the box, there's also a note that reads:
Meow Meow (ΦωΦ) That's happy holidays in cat, I think. Minyato. ]
• a keychain that might be very familiar looking • a package of raspberry hot chocolate with a mug that has a sleeping lion painted on the front with zzzz's coming from it • a tie that, at the bottom of it, has a tabby cat sitting there with big orange glasses worn over its eyes • another keychain, but this one in the shape of a silverish-gold cloud with the moon and sun hanging off it
There's also a card with the following: Sometimes even the sun and moon need some protection from the clouds. Merry Christmas.
[Terra comes to the boys’ house, but doesn’t go in or knock. Instead, his voice comes tickling between Squall’s ears like the soft grate of two rocks:]
[ Squall jumped a little when he heard Terra's voice in his head. He wasn't really expecting him to show up or to "have something for him" either. Huh...
Terra will hear a thud and the crunch of snow from the back of the house, with the crunching getting louder as Squall approaches. ]
[Later in the evening when the sun is almost completely set Sora decides to tiptoe his way into Squall's room to find him. It's quiet in the house and Sora is dressed warmly in a hoodie and some black shorts but at least he has socks on.]
Hey?
[Hopefully Squall isn't too busy. And even if he is Sora might just interrupt him anyway.]
[ He's so extremely busy, you have no idea. Just look how extremely busy he is sitting there flipping the pages of a book he found from the library. He wasn't all that dressed up either, just wearing a white tanktop and some black sweat pants. The little crown pendant dangling from his neck.
He stopped his reading when he heard Sora's voice and looked up with a raised eyebrow at first. Sora what are you wearing. ]
You did...?
[ Squall tilts his head a little, setting the book to the side after marking his page.
[ Just... it's a visual of this. A meat sundae. Mashed potatoes and pulled pork and bacon and who else knows what. The smell comes with it, warm and buttery and grilled meat... ]
Guys, are you at the house? I was about to leave work, but something real bad just happened to Riku. I'm going to see if I can Corridor around the city and look for him.
[ Halfway through the day, komory bat will be fluttering his way through Squall's window with something twinkling in his little claws. As he descends down, he comes to drop the twinkling item on Squall's bed before he drops himself down to putter around a little on the bed, wings tucked behind him. The twinkling item, upon closer inspection, is an amulet... Riku's amulet from the looks of it and with komory bat having returned with this, that can only mean one thing...
[ Squall was about to ask Komory what was up when he noticed the amulet that twinkled brightly on his bed. His expression goes from surprise, to a big frown as he reached out for the amulet. First Sora, and now Riku? Just what exactly is going on in their world...?
Komory must be just as distressed as Meow Wow, even though it was hard to tell with that tiny grin on his face. Gently Squall scoots over to pull the bat into his growing pile of animals, with his own kitten and Meow Wow taking up his lap. ]
[There's a bit of a mental knock in order for Auron to get Squall's attention before the older man's raspy voice is audible.]
Hey. Just checking in. Wanted to tell you I put something on the Task Board that you might be interested in if you want. Was going to tell Terra about it but I haven't seen him in a bit.
[ When he gets a hold squall, he normally doesn't feel a surge of emotions his way, but this time he wasn't so lucky. It almost felt like a forced happiness being pushed through their connection. Like when someone is trying to hide they're mad so they smile and it doesn't look natural? ]
[It's obvious by now that something's happening and the house is emptier for the missing occupants. Machina slides over to Squall's room and leans against the doorframe.]
You okay?
[They both have similar issues with losing people, so checking in seems kindest. Not to mention, if their amulets are still here, they're most likely home. Which is good! ...or really bad. Like it had been for Machina.]
[Kor probably realized before anybody else that Sora had departed from Verens, whether he had been willing to accept that fact or not, thanks to feeling his bond with Sora suddenly snap in the middle of the night.
But at some point, he had to face facts that something happened. He had a couple people he could try, but Squall seemed like his best bet.]
...Hey. What happened to Sora?
[That's not the voice of somebody who's just trying to reach his buddy.]
[ Squall wasn't sleeping when Kor contacted him. It's only been a short while since Sora's been gone, but he still has been finding it hard to get his mind on anything else so sleeping right now really wasn't an option.
Still, that didn't mean that the sudden voice of Sora's friend Kor in his head didn't throw him off completely. Squall was reaching for something when he heard his voice sounding none to happy, (And who could really blame him) and ended up falling to the floor with a loud clatter.
He let out a soft groan. ]
Kor...?
[ They've only spoken a few times, but he could recognize his voice. ]
Sora... he's gone back home. Along with Riku. They've left their amulets here.
